Cell Respiration
Pathways Chart
Your assignment is to take the metabolic pathways in
the above illustration, fill in all of the details, and plot it
out on ONE SIDE of ONE PIECE of paper. You
may use whatever size paper you want.
Your chart should include:
- Products of each step (Write a simplified structural
formula of each molecule)
- Enzymes used in each step
- List the number of Carbon atoms in each molecule (e.g.-
Glucose: 6-C; 1,3-Bisphosphoglycerate: 3-C)...you will need to
actually count the carbons.
- Show molecules that are used/given off in the different steps
(i.e. CO2, ATP, etc.)
- Connect the three major pathways (like in the picture above)
so that you can see how they interact and where they take place
in the cell. Only use the following figures:
- Old Textbook
- New Textbook
- Fig. 7.9 (p. 140-41)
- Fig. 7.10 (p. 142 top, left)
- Fig. 7.11 (p.143)
- Fig. 7.14 (p. 146)
- Don't even try to turn in this assignment if it is not hand
written on one side of one piece of paper. By seeing all
of the pathways at once, you will be able to better understand
and visualize respiration. See me if you need a bigger
piece of paper.
- If you have questions, e-mail me or see me at school.
