I'm a Ginkgo Tree

When you're sitting by,
The library,
Underneath the shade,
Of a tiny tree,

I hope you'll know,
You'll know its me,
‘Cause I’m a Ginkgo,
A Ginkgo tree.

I'm a Ginkgo tree,
Oh yes I am,
I'm a ginkgo tree,
And here i stand.

I can’t be a monocot,
My veins aren’t straight.
I can’t be a dicot,
My veins don’t branch.

So instead they call me,
Dichotomous venation,
So I split,
Again and again.

I’m a Ginkgo tree,
Oh Yes I am.
Oh I’m a ginkgo tree,
And here I stand.

60 to 100 feet,
Thats my height.
I like to grow a lot,
And that I do.

While I tower high above,
I'm also round.
My diameter,
Is 2 to 3 feet.

I’m a Ginkgo tree,
Oh Yes I am.
Oh I’m a ginkgo tree,
And here I stand.

My leaves are flat,
And bi-lobed.
I have no husks,
Or capsules.

My fruit's just round,
And quite naked,
So they're classified,
As gymnosperms.

I’m a Ginkgo tree,
Oh Yes I am.
Oh I’m a ginkgo tree,
And here I stand.

I came from China,
From there I spread,
To Jaban and Korea,
Where I was found.

You can't really kill me,
I've lived so long,
I help in cities,
Where pollution is strong.

I’m a Ginkgo tree,
Oh Yes I am.
Oh I’m a ginkgo tree,
And here I stand.

So I'm a Ginkgo tree,
Now you understand,
That I'm a Ginkgo tree,
And I'm really grand.
