DHS Plants Final
Project 2014
Purpose:
When you are finished with the
final project, you will be able to identify and have an
understanding of 45 major plants on the DHS campus. By
following a guided
audio (and supplementary web-based) tour of the campus flora, I hope that you will gain a
better appreciation for these interesting plants and recognize
them throughout town.
Requirements:
- Get the plant information recordings by one of the following
four ways:
- Subscribe to the
iTunes Podcast
- Click on this iTunes
button: to subscribe
using iTunes.
- After subscribing, click
Get button
next to each plant episode to have iTunes download
them.
- Sync with your iPod
- Download and save this zipped
file (dhsplants.zip)
...it is 50 MB so it will take a while to
download. Only do this one time since it will
severely strain my bandwidth allowances for my web
site. Make sure you unzip the file before
accessing the folder from your mp3 organizing program
.
- Bring a flash drive
and get them off of my computers.
- If you have
unlimited data (or enough data) you can just listen to
the podcasts using the Podcast app on your phone
(search for the DHSplants podcast) or directly from
the wikispaces site if your phone can play flash
content.
- You will put the 45
podcast recordings onto your iPod/mp3 player.
(Please talk to me immediately if you do not have access
to a player.) As you walk around campus following
the numbered map and listening to the tour, you will
answer questions about each plant in your DHS Plants
Question Packet. See the packet for rules and
instructions.
Go to the DHS Plants Web
site
- Go to our class site http://dhsplants.wikispaces.com/
- You will find a copy of the question packet, a numbered
map, and information & pictures of each plant.
Grading is based on:
- The completion and accuracy of your question packet
- Test on the last day of class on plant identification
and features... you will have to ID each plant by sight.
- Following of all directions and doing what you are
supposed to be doing during the class periods (I will not
tolerate unacceptable behavior, lack of work, use of
phones other than directly for the project, disrupting
others, copying, etc.) No warnings.
